The Windows Phone 7 and publishing

The Windows Phone 7 and publishing. Everyone who has seen and tried the Windows Phone 7 hands on will agree that the typography is absolutely stunning on the new phone. If Microsoft bring out a tablet using the Windows Phone 7 OS and interface then Apple will have a very strong competitor to tis iPad and especially its iBooks app. Because reading on the Windows Phone 7 OS is going to be brilliant and and absolutely stunning.

The windows phone 7 is going to be relesed in the UK in 10 days (can’t wait!!) and in the US in about 3 weeks (Hahaha).

Are you going to get yourself a Windows Phone 7?

Will printed books be out of fashion?

October 11, 2010 :: Posted by - Vicky :: Category - Print and Paper

Will printed books be out of fashion? I don’t think so. Never. Although it may be cool and awesome to have full books on a tablet computer such as the iPad – Printed books will never go out of fashion. Sooner or later, people will realise that reading on an iPad will damage a person’s eyesight and may even make them weaker mentally (due to looking at a screen closely continuously without blinking much).

Although every now and then might not harm you but people can’t resist too much.

Because of these few reasons I think printed books will not go out of fashion.

Is the time of publishing books coming to an end?

October 06, 2010 :: Posted by - Vicky :: Category - Book publishing

Is the time of publishing books coming to an end? Why do I say this? With the release of the iPad and soon the Google tablet and a variety of others like the Amazon Kindle, more and more people are going towards reading book and novals on their tablet pc’s and gadgets. This has less more and more people buy less and less books for a wide variety of reasons which I won’t go into as a simple Google or Bing search will reveal all this info on a thousand websites written by ten thousand authors!

So, do you own a reading device?

Is it worth publishing a book from scratch

October 05, 2010 :: Posted by - Shaun :: Category - Book publishing

Is it worth publishing a book from scratch? What do I mean by this? Should you go to try and publish a book when you have no recognition what so ever? The answer to this is no. You will fail and fail really bad which will break your morale to ever try and publish a book again.

The way to do this is to get some recognition first by doing something online or getting in touch with some publishers or even better getting in touch with authors.

The main thing to remember is that to make some good money from writing a book isn’t easy and not worth the trouble.

Publishing has become easier than it ever had

October 05, 2010 :: Posted by - Vicky :: Category - Book publishing

You might not realise but publishing a book in this day and age has become far more easier than it was say 20 years back whene you had to approach the large publishing companies with a perfect proposal, presentation, meeting, plan etc. to persuade them to take on your project.

These days, you can create your book on the computer yourself using a package such as Adobe InDesign and approach any printing company to print your book and sell them online!

Once you get a little popular, then a lot of larger publishing companies will approach you! Yes, you. Not you approching them!
